Hi all! I am back to town after some recent travels to Portugal, but trying to sort out this weird spring season: what roads are open? How the trails and access to scramble destinations are faring? Anyone driven up the roads and able to share? TIA!!! (A photo from the Rota Vicentina to pique interest...)

Thanks, someone forwarded me that one. Any reports on the Bean/ Beverly TH, or the way up to Stafford Creek and Miller Peak THs?

The south aspects of Johnson and Stafford look mostly melted. I tried to make a trip out two weeks ago but turned back because it was storming when we arrived. Same with last weekend. I'll probably try again this upcoming weekend, however it has been pretty wintry the past few days. So I would expect to see some new snow there. There's clear imagery from 4/19. There was still snow on the road to Beverly and Miller but you might be able to make it closer now. You would almost certainly be able park at the fork in the road and hike up the south ridge of Stafford. You might be able to make it to Iron Bear on the east side too. I imagine that will blow up on WTA once good weather lines up with a weekend like it has the past few years.

PS: The store on Teanaway River Road has opened back up. We stopped in when we drove out there and it was charming.

Thanks for the info, satellite images, and esp the info on the Teanaway Store. All the times I have driven by, I have yet to stop. Plan to change that!

So what about this Observation report from NWAC? Iron Peak in the Teanaways on April 28. https://nwac.us/observations/#/view/observations/c14b4866-4730-4ba0-ab4a-e61a0be474e3 I was under the impression that it had recent snow up there. Did it all melt? Maybe it's sunnier on Stafford Ridge. ~z

I'm sure the whole area received some snow in the past few precipitous days. And there's almost certainly very deep snow still in the northern Teanaway like the Iron region. But today we made it basically snow free to Peak 5194. I think it might even be possible to summit Earl Peak from Stafford with minimal-to-no snow travel at all.

That being said, we picked up five ticks between us. So keep that in mind.
