Dang. Trees can be creepy. I've seen and heard maybe more fall during a calm day than on a blustery one. I was just told of Allyson's death by a friend of mine and close co-worker of Allyson's. I had met Allyson a few times through our mutual work at nonprofits. She was friendly and passionate. My heart goes to all of her coworkers and colleagues, friends and family, and my appreciation goes to the rescuers.

couple reasons for this:
#1 Trees and widow makers have been made over the rough stormy winter months. By now what didn't fall during the winter are often just hanging on by less than a thread, triggered to fall by less than the slightest breeze.
#2 When it is really windy, the other sounds of the forest are muffled even more than usual. The forest is a natural sound break.
