I haven’t wandered through all of the Salish Sea Atlas but what I’ve seen is worthy. Creator, Aquila Flower, PhD, notes several times in academia speak this is of necessity of limited granularity. I’d invite wandering around her atlas.
I like one arbitrary decision Flower made. This is required in defining the Salish Sea drainage basin. Those of you who’ve covered much of the PNW know the Fraser is the dominant drainage in the basin. Yet in many ways I, and apparently Flowers does as well, thinks cutting off most of the Fraser is best. When one thinks Salish Sea, you just don’t see the Chilcotin, Cariboo, let alone the Nechako. So she makes the cut at about Lytton, at upper end of The Canyon, with the confluences of the Thompson and the Stein nearby. More or less follows transitions to Interior Salish. I allow salmon might reasonably disagree with this cutoff line.
