I have a plug for this project. Only 5,000 of the 60,000 images have been cataloged so far.
"Asahel Curtis was one of the Pacific Northwest’s most prolific photographers, capturing Washington’s natural resources, industries, early cities, historic events, and people from the 1890s to the 1940s. He was a keen observer and appreciated the beauty and uniqueness of our natural environment. Curtis and his studio snapped an almost encyclopedic view of a region growing from frontier wilderness into modernity.
His images were artful, but they didn’t romanticize; rather, Asahel believed, they represented the realities of the Northwest.
It is our goal to make the Asahel Curtis Collection of 60,000 images available in its entirety, freely accessible to all, through full digitization. This goal will only be accomplished through the support of individuals, grantmakers, and sponsors. Please make a gift today to help the Washington State Historical Society provide full and free access to this collection for heritage organizations, researchers, scholars, educators, and the public."
