Up to our usual shenanigans, EJohnson and I did a quick but very fun local route: from the Lil' Si t/h, we took the Douglas Fir trail over to the newly-improved section to the Kamikazi / Tenneriffe trail. topped out on Tenny, then booted over to Si, descending via the West side trail. Very cold, with just enough snow to give the place that 'winter wonderland' feel, but not so much that the snowshoes couldn't just rest in the trunk. Hitting the trail a little after 8:00 am, we were back at the car at 2:00 pm. A few snaps...
Above the frozen Falls and moving easily over the shallow hardpack--great conditions for microspike jogging. Seattle, from the top of Tenny. Looking west, from the summit cornice. Deepish but easy snow, quick stomping. A few minutes from the Si turn-out. Erick spotted some Tenny summiteers from a point on the road near the turn-off for Si. I couldn't pick 'em out without my specs, but my camera had no trouble. Approaching Si, the last push was warm, and a great finish to a satisfying morning in the hills!
